I-1.3—To recognize and respect the unique qualities,
abilities, and potential of each child.(NAEYC; 2005)
*This is meaningful to me because I believe we need to recognize the uniqueness for each child! All children are different on all levels, and we need to respect that and encourage them each day. I also believe all children have their own set of unique abilities. Again, not all children are alike and we must allow them to be their own person. I also believe each child has potential, no matter what background they come from or what their home life is. We MUST allow children to be the very best!!
I-1.5—To create and maintain safe and healthy settings that foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development and that respect their dignity and their contributions. (NAEYC; 2005)
*This is important to me because I believe, as educators we need to ensure our students feel safe when they leave their homes. We need to provide relationships and an environment that will allow a child to feel secure while at school. Also, we need to provide students with a setting that allows them to develop the way they should. We need to provide opportunities in our daily routines to ensure this.
6. We shall build relationships with individual children and families while individualizing the curricula and learning environments to facilitate young children’s development and learning. (DEC; 2009)
* This is important to me because I feel we need to build that strong foundation with not only our students but families as well. We must provide information to families about their students as well as providing that support. Not all families are able to devote 100% of their time to the school their child attends; however, we can allow families to be included in their child's education by sending literature about the classroom, the school, and current events going on with their child. We also can provide literature about their child's learning and ways of development.
This blog has been so beneficial on so many levels. Not only have I been allowed to post my own blog, but I have learned from others' blogs. It has been wonderful to read about each one of you that has posted on your blog. Your insights and suggestions for early childhood will forever be etched in my mind.

Hi Susan,
ReplyDeleteGreat Blog as all ways. You are such an inspiration to me. I agree one hundred precent with you, we must make our students feel safe in order for them to be ready for learning to take place. It is also very important for us to develop strong postive relationships with our parents as well.
Thanks for the posting,
Erica Hines
Hello, Susan
ReplyDeleteYou have chosen two good Codes of Ethics from the NAEYC- Code of Ethical Conduct and Statement of Commitment position statement. In your I-1.3- To recognize and respect the unique qualities because I feel the same as you that we need to recognize the uniqueness for each child and that we need to respect and encourage them each day to believe that all children are different all levels. In your I-1.5 of the Ethical Responsibilities to children that I feel the same as you that as educators we need to ensure that our students feel safe when they leave their homes to come to school and I definitely feel the same that we need to provide relationships in the environment that will allow our children to feel secure while at school in our care.
Keep up the good work!

Wow Susan I am really impressed with all of your logistics that are posted. I tend to be a Dynamic learner so when it comes to logistics I am not very methodical. I am amazed at how you formatted your Codes of Conduct. I love number six, building relationships with children and families. It is so important that as teachers we become and extended part of a child's family. Hypothetically speaking. Great Job and great help to others.
